Eh, I was talking about Sybil-the-popular-narrative, which I'm sure was streamlined and prettified from the real life of the person behind it. Same with Eve, I know I've read her memoir and it's very different from the way her therapist-biographers portrayed her.

A quick glance at Wikipedia suggests "Sybil had some skeevy/unethical therapists, her story got sensationalized for the media, and there were various cases of people who claimed they could prove things about her mental state but oops we lost the evidence." Not sure I buy that she was faking anything, just that her reality got exploited pretty far.

Some of the psychiatrists studying multiplicity have been considerably nuttier than the patients. Look up Colin Ross sometime. Dude thinks he can shoot chi out of his eyeballs.

that is nuts, but to be fair it sounds, at worst, equal in absurdity with people believing that they have gay versions of actual rl straight people living in their heads with them
