I'm not saying this excuses him, but it might offer some clarity... he's clearly got a family history of serious mental health issues and I wouldn't be surprised if that was a factor in his beliefs.

I believe that a lot of people don't understand that conspiracy theories are a common symptom in people with certain mental illnesses, so yeah, thanks for pointing that out.
