Right, because all women are really just jealous of each other.

How on earth did you get that from ayrt's post?

(Anonymous) 2022-03-12 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry, my bad for saying "all" I suppose, but the anon I replied to literally said "anyone who complains about other women being confident about and comfortable with their own bodies is just jealous", so I'm confused by the confusion here.

To me, it's just another repetition of things like "women who say makeup is bad just can't do winged eyeliner right". There are plenty of reasons for women to critique popular beauty trends and the effects they have that are not "you're jealous that X is better than you"

Agreed.

Sounds like you understand exactly what was confusing.

NAYRT

Not all people "that complain about other women being confident about and comfortable with their own bodies" are women and not all women "complain about other women being confident about and comfortable with their own bodies". Anyway you look at it, the statment ayrt made didn't logically translate to "all women are jealous of other women". The confusion was justified I believe. Hope that helped. However, I get the rest of what you're saying. It's certainly a nuanced discussion to have and a critic of the makeup industry and standard of beauty imposed to women is also important to have, while not denying the agency of women that like to wear make-up or dressed-up a certain way for various reasons. It's not cut and dry, is what I'm trying to say.
