I liked the moral -- that Gonzo's friends loved him for him and that he didn't have to be "on" all the time. But I found myself getting bored during the special itself.

It did drag on a bit. I have watched it a couple of time, but only so that whoever is monitoring the algorithm at D+ HQ thinks that there is an interest in new Muppet Material. Same with Muppets Now. Of course I regularly watch the old Show and movies just out of sheer love of them as well.

I didn't recognize half of the cameos and felt bad about it.

Yeah, I think that there were some things that could have made it more successful... I loved all the nods to the ride, but Pepe just doesn't have the same chemistry with Gonzo that Rizzo does. Is that weird to say about a Muppet?

I think minimizing Kermit in favor of Gonzo was the right move, since Gonzo is still Gonzo but the current Kermit is a terrible Kermit, but... it just wasn't everything it could have been if they'd put in the same level of care.
