The Orville fits the Star Trek paradigm, certainly. i.e. Its first episode after the pilot are crap that you need to sit through to get to the better stuff. Every Trek show has fit that paradigm.

Seriously though, who thought the Alien Zoo where the junior officer has to take charge was a good second episode? They should have switched it with the Liam Neeson episode.

He gets better by the end of Season 2. It is clear that his acting chops were pretty slack at the start of the show, but also that doing the show has really sharpened him up on that score too.

I liked the moral -- that Gonzo's friends loved him for him and that he didn't have to be "on" all the time. But I found myself getting bored during the special itself.

Honestly, I found myself super surprised by the voice acting in Encanto. Like, usually there will be one or two voice actors that I have trouble with for a few scenes, but the closest I got to being taken out of it was that Bruno's first couple lines sounded exactly like John Leguizamo's VA work in Ice Age. And even that I got over pretty quickly when he had some more serious lines.

It's because it's an Award Bait song. It was specifically designed to reach the top of the charts and win an Oscar (which it did, by the way) to act as a selling point.
