The secret reads like OP is Canadian themselves, though.

I didn’t think it did, because of the last part of the secret:

“Obviously I am someone who has no experience being on the end of either Trudeau’s policies, or else I wouldn’t be making this secret.”

I could be misinterpreting or reading wrong, but I thought this was them saying they weren’t Canadian?

OP

I am definitely not Canadian, and was waiting for someone to tell me why me having a crush on the Trudeaus was morally bad or something. My lack of knowledge about any of them besides the basics of the October Crisis and the trucker convoy also stops me from writing rpf based on the Beaverton article.

Pleasantly surprised to see that I'm not alone on crushing on them though! DEFINITELY surprised that other people found pierre thirst-worthy. I'm honestly quite curious if there was like a poll back then or what, because I have no idea how that was common knowledge.

You realize that “back then” was the 1970s and 80s, right? There are people right now in their 60s who thought Pierre was hot and have not been shy about sharing that opinion since Justin hit the scene.

I don't live in Canada! I'm also on the young side! I've been missing out on "finds Pierre Trudeau" scene, have no access to word of mouth as it happened, and am the equivalent of the beggar from the meme panhandling for spare coochie, except it's not coochie, it's someone's thirst-inducing photos of the former prime minister of Canada. Have pity please for me not knowing, and wanting to know. orz

(I'm not actually bothered or exasperated, I just think it's a funny situation to be in. But if you do have any serious answers about if people acknowledging pierre Trudeau was sexy was in pop culture tv, and/or have choice Trudeau pics, that'd be welcomed. I know justin was thirsted over, but I find it interesting that other people would lust over pierre even though he was half bald already as of the 70s. No offense to bald people, I just swear to god don't see it on twatter or tunglr fandoms.)

If you google "Trudeaumania", you'll find a whole lot about just how popular Pierre was back in the late 1960's! In 1968, he was unmarried, unconventional, charismatic, and considered a "swinger". There was all sorts of lusting going on. :)

Another Anon - From what I've heard, after he got married the lusting calmed down because continuing to act like Indy's students in The Last Crusade would have been unseemly, but it was still simmering in the background. Dude must have been charismatic as hell.

OP

Can confirm! I've apparently was converted into a Trudeaumaniac from just a couple of pictures and a couple of brief summaries. That's some potent charisma!

Thank you all for the wonderful discussion, and sharing the keyword "Trudeaumania" because now I have a leg to stand on when starting to do some, ahem, research. It's been a blast, y'all. ;)
