Yeah this. The main problem with Batman (and Spiderman) movies in particular is that they're just retreading the same few opening beats every four odd years ad nauseam. Give us something ten years down the line where Batman is the central Gotham hub for about fifteen sidekicks, ex-sidekicks and independent heroes, and coordinating various bits and bobs for the League and three other teams on top of it. (Give us Oracle, I would fucking love Oracle showing up in any major superhero movie). And by this, I don't mean start us on the origin and have fifteen goddamn movies getting us there, only to collapse on like movie four where he's just had his first fight with Dick Grayson, I mean just jump us straight in ten years down the line. Show us Gotham with its full hero-villain ecosystem in full swing.

The Master & Commander effect-- that movie dropped us into the middle of a longstanding relationship and a complex military situation and expected the audience to keep up, and we did. It's not like people who like superhero movies would be at sea (snerk) if asked to keep up with a mid-career Batman or Spiderman. And it would be so much more interesting than yet another origin story.
