I don't mind Batman but I think he's written best when he's kind of just some guy. And that's not really possible when you put him in a crossover with someone like Superman, who is not and can never be just some guy. I totally agree that he's massively overrated and the version of the character that a lot of people like seems so exaggerated and OTT to me. And I think in large part, the reason that he's so exaggerated is because his fans feel like he needs to be able to stand up there with the rest of the superhero universe.

The thing is, the DCAU and large chunks of the comics show that Batman works fine with other heroes. Just not at the start of his career. Like, Year One Batman works well with nobody. But once he's gotten a kid or two and had time to work the kinks out, he works just fine with actually quite a lot of people.

It also puts a damn bee in my bonnet because that is so very much NOT what is going to happen in the damn books. Like Loras is probably gonna have a shitty end, but he most CERTAINLY isn't going to go out like he did in the show, and neither is Margaery.

Garlan is a player in all of this, and so is Willas.

Now I actively believe they will all be removed from the playing field by the end of the story (by not mattering or dead) but its going to be in very different ways. But of course we aren't EVER GOING TO KNOW CAUSE GRRM CANT FINISH THE DAMN BOOKS.

I just want to know what happened to my damn house.

As a side note--the butchering of Loras is one of the things that pissed me off more than anything in the world. I'm sorry I get really angry about this, but well, I'm an ASOIAF fan, and queer, this is what happens to me. The world of ASOAIF isn't homophobic like it is portrayed in GOT; the main issue with Loras/Renly was that they were nobility, not that they were gay. Jokes were made about them, yes, but their lives weren't going to be in active danger. Same goes for Blackfish. He was gay, and it was fine. Being queer didn't lead you into active danger moreso than any other thing in Westeros--tbh them being men made them safer.

The Faith Militant in the books are against excesses, but nothing so far in the books has said that they are against homosexuality. You could *probably* read it that way as it would be something done outside wedlock (and gay people arent marrying as marriage is more of a contract than a love thing), but its not like they specifically had it out for 'the gays'.

Im sorry I'll shut up. But I'm still so very sad we never got to see Loras's beautiful face melted and what that might mean for him, now that he looks like the man who saved his life during the tourney those years ago.

I feel this so hard!! I was disgusted at how dirty they were done, and I’m still salty about it!

And I know this is a bit of a touchy subject, especially here for some reason, but I also feel the same way about how Daenarys was screwed over by the show too. No matter what anyone says, and no matter if I’m labeled a “crazy Dany stan” for it by that anon(s?), I don’t believe how she was written in Season 8 tracks with how she was written before then. Both in regards to the show, and the books. I think it was borderline character assassination, pun not intended.

So I think I’ll continue to be salty about Margaery, Loras, and Daenerys for a long time.

It's probably just time, OP, that's all. We're bound to not feel the same things about media that we did 14 years ago, you know? And while I'm very excited/happy that this arc is FINALLY getting animated, I think I'd agree that it doesn't quite hit the same as in the manga--something about the atmosphere for me, I think (I DID really enjoy regardless, but the manga is just -chef's kiss-)

I don't think I ever put it together as a child that Sir Ector was father to *both* of them. Like I genuinely believed Wart was an orphan and that's why he was treated badly -- like he was given a place to sleep and work to do, but he wasn't "one of them" so he was still treated poorly.

Like I found this out in maybe the last 18 months and I'm still shocked lmao

I never shipped them, but I can see it. Their interactions were pretty cute. My ship was Watanuki/Himawari and I kinda held out the hope that it would go somewhere even after all the hints of Doumeki/Watanuki (which I did ship, but not as strongly as Watanuki/Himawari). I was lowkey pissed at who Doumeki ended up with, which was just one of the many things that annoyed me about the ending for xxxHolic.
