(Anonymous) 2022-03-19 12:45 am (UTC)(link)If I am ever lucky enough to be able to afford even a small property in the countryside, I am going to keep Dutch Hookbill ducks, and Scots Grey chickens (but not the Scots Grey Dumpy, because that breed only exists due to a painful, not to mention potentially lethal, defective gene).
What is your random statement, people? Just blurt it right out, let us know.

(Anonymous) 2022-03-19 08:10 pm (UTC)(link)There's this doodly comic strip (which now I can't find) where two characters are talking, and the first one is like, "I don't know how you can be so successful and put together and well-adjusted," and the second character is like, "It might seem that way, but I assure you, it's actually just an elaborately constructed ruse," and then the third panel is just character one thinking, "Jesus christ, this guy's a magician, too?!"
I think about that comic strip a lot.

(Anonymous) 2022-03-19 07:06 am (UTC)(link)I really hate whatever that trope/cliche would be called where in practically every movie for children that involves someone magical or a magical world, there’s almost always a scene where the magical character or the guide to the magical world winks to the kid main character(s) when showing them something magical or mystical. I hate it specifically because it’s in every trailer for these types of films. I don’t know why it gets on my nerves, but it definitely does. It also seems to happen the most often in movie adaptations of books. I know it sounds too specific to happen often enough to be annoying, but I guess I just have the bad luck to see the majority of trailers for these types of films.
Just off the top of my head, I remember it happening in the trailer for: Mary Poppins Returns, The House with the Clock in the Walls, and A Wrinkle in Time.
This movie doesn’t fit the others, because it’s for a different demographic and isn’t necessarily a fantasy, but it annoyed me when it happened in the trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home, with Doctor Strange winking to Peter. Even seeing the film didn’t make it any less annoying to me.
And no, I have no problem with winking I real life, it’s not something I have any tics about. And I don’t usually hate it when it’s in movies. Just something about it’s use in so many trailers, as a gesture that they specifically put in because they think it’s charming and will make people more likely to want to watch it I guess, it really gets on my nerves.
