Re: Your smaller fandoms
My ex got me into both YnM and Eroica, at approximately the same time... fortunately right around the time they started getting an English translation, she'd been reading via fan translations for years. And was very happy to finally have a Tsuzuki for her Hisoka, and a Dorian for her Klaus. Fortunately both of those two absolutely pushed so many of my buttons, set in cracktastic canon that could be hilarious or incredibly dark at various moments... yeah, that was pretty easy to get into. ;)
I did not know of Orpheus no Mado, but a quick google and ... okay that premise sounds really interesting and I should not spoil myself by reading more. (And I loved the Rose of Versailles anime, though never got to check out the manga!) Looks like... there is an online English translation available, just no official one. I wonder if the Japanese-language version might be among the massive amount of manga aforementioned ex left behind when she moved out - there was a bunch of things I didn't recognize in there, and I know some never got an official English release. ...Already been thinking I should sort through those and rehome them since the bookshelf they were on fell apart.
And hahah, yeah, VS can be grindy and I'm pretty sure nearly everyone hit a wall at least once. (Almost always in the Snowfly Forest, since it's like every version of the Lost Woods from the Zelda series simultaneously. XD And then there was that one block puzzle in the temple...) Plot tapes (on VHS!) were being circulated back in the day by those of us who pushed through it, so others didn't have to rip their hair out to see how the story progressed. ;) But glad you've had some fun with it so far!
