i can live with crap plots if the characters are worth a damn, and the joker (especially in heath ledger's incarnation) is fundamentally (for me) not an interesting character

i'm not saying rises is good - the last forty-five minutes are brilliant, shame about the previous two hours - but i certainly find it stronger than tdk
