It happened on live TV so all 16 million people who were watching naturally have an opinion about it, as do all the people who heard about it later. Will Smith is one of the biggest movie stars in the world so of course it's going to be prime office talk and meme material...for a couple weeks anyway.

But yeah, I'm over it. Smith really needs to apologize to the Williams sisters, because his win (which was a foregone conclusion) really should have been about the film and their family and he did ruin that moment. He doesn't need to apologize to Chris Rock, they have beef going back years. It was a massive lapse in judgement to do it then and there, not some horrible moral wrong.
