I was never the world's biggest Narnia fan, but if I had been, I would've been even more pissed to find out about the religious stuff (at age seven) than I was already, because I wasn't raised religious at all but my encounters with Christianity put me off for life.

Went to Sunday school with friends when invited, was told I was going to hell because I didn't believe in Jesus, was vaguely aware of Jesus thanks to super Catholic grandma, no clue about hell. The teacher proceeded to describe the everlasting tortures awaiting me and my parents in lurid detail until I broke down crying.

Never been back inside a church except to admire architecture or for funerals since. Two years later, plowed through the whole Narnia series, got to the end, went "wait a minute," asked my third grade teacher if I was imagining things, got royally pissed off by the answer.

If someone loved the books as a kid, had only negative experiences of Christianity, and didn't twig the allegory until, say, high school, when they'd already written a bunch of fanfic, I could see still loving the story but being mad about the Christian stuff.
