MMMH. You could have a point about this year songs (I have yet to listen to all of them, but so far only two caught my attention), but I think it's unfair to the 2021 edition. Some of those songs were amazing and there were a wider range on genres compared to some other recent editions. It was generally a very fun experience with charismatic presenters, even if the best eurovision presenters to date are the Swedish ones in 2015 and I will die on this hill.

I hope this edition is fun, but knowing the presenters and the general humor in Italian television... I'm VERY WORRIED. I don't really enjoy Cattelan's jokes (he is a good presenter though) and Laura Pausini is an amazing artist, but is not know for her humor AT ALL (at least to me?!). And we have... Mika??? I think he presents X-Factors here in Italy, but I've never watched it so I have no idea how he's going to handle it. IDEK I'm Italian and I'm very worried LMAO I just want my Eurovision not to take itself too seriously. I watch Eurovision just for the trash, the memes and discovering new artists.

Personal note: I wanted to go see a semifinal since it's going to be held in a city near mine and I've been following Eurovision since 2002, so it's my 20th anniversary this year, but the tickets were sold out in less than 30 minutes. Ticketmaster opened at 10AM when almost everyone is working and the friend I wanted to go with and I were busy then so we couldn't buy the tickets in time and I'm still bitter about that.

If France wins the year Italy is holding the Eurovision I'm going to laugh until the end of time. (for context: in competitions Italy hates France and France hates Italy).

BTW people, never forget one of the most important songs in Eurovision:
Love, Love, Peace Peace: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cv6tgnx6jTQ

I am kind of worried the presenters will just talk too much. The whole thing takes like 6 hours as it is, and we're here for the songs, not for the local celebs to make unfunny jokes.

Too bad about the tickets, but for big events like that it's probably really difficult to get the tickets...

France is not going to win, from what I heard, they are kind of bad live, and I've already heard normies criticise them for such a "dark" song with "witchy vibe" *eyeroll*

OH YEAH the first meme that the Italian fandom shared online when we won was that of "how will ESC last only two hours with our usual programming??? Europe will go to sleep at 2AM".
We have Sanremo, the national song festival held to decide the ESC artist that lasts AT LEAST 4 hours because the presenters and various guests have to do jokes and bits and political monolougues. Absolutely atrocious with old unfunny humor and people usually watch it only for memes.
It's going to be a mess if they don't manage their time well and don't it specifically thinking to the international audience.

For the tickets it's probably for the best. I'm going to this friend's house and we are going to get drunk in peace.

I'm kind of bummed hearing that they are bad live. :( Kind of relieved that they'll probably not win because I would not be able to deal with the drama.

Love Love Peace Peace is Peak Eurovision. There's never been a better song.
I now always vote for Sweden, in the hopes Petra and Mans will host again.
