153. You're sick. He's a horrible person. Accept he's a horrible person, and that you like one, that's OK. But there's no way someone as messed up as this, who likes to inflict pain just for the hell of it and because he can, and just to make a point, is beautiful. In ANY WAY. And if you're refering to the actor...to each their own, I didn't like him physically, and he was sort of messed up in the head, like the character, since he commited suicide.
I love the Joker, don't get me wrong. But I like him BECAUSE he's a bastard, an asshole, and because I actually agree with much of his philosophy and his sense of humor. Which is twisted. I would never, not even under drugs, consider him a beautiful person

Augh, you're not another "Joker brainwashed Heath" person, are you? Either way, your statement is kind of ignorant.
But I agree that the Joker doesn't really have a "beautiful" inner side. It seems to me like the chance to have that sort of side was lost a looong time ago and he, for the most part, probably grew up without it and the way he functions, he wouldn't even know how to have a kind side. Not that his character is driven by being mean, or a bastard or an asshole, which is another part of your comment I kind of clash with. Those characteristics have nothing to do with his character. It's like it sort of says in the movie, he's more of a force than anything else. He has his philosophy, and its not based on emotion or sentiment ("it's nothing personal") so, really, I wouldn't even call him an asshole or a bastard. Nevertheless, he does have a vulnerbale side that he covers up pretty well, no pun intended.
Sorry for the ramble. I do a lot of Joker analyzing, he's the best character ever.

He likes toying with people. He LOVES it, actually. And that's fascinating, and even more because he's so GOOD at it

Well, I think he enjoys it too much not to invest any emotion in it. In fact, I seem to remember he covers for Bruce Wayne because if his real identity were discovered, "it wouldn't be fun, anymore". I'm fascinated by his desire to act as a natural force of chaos, and show society its own dark sides and disgusting actions, but he kind of makes it personal targeting Batman almost exclusively "because he's fun" (not exact quotes. I saw the movie in my original language, which is not English -another reason for misuse of words, perhaps, if you see any)
Anyway, I find him utterly enthralling, but I think the movie does him poor justice at the end (I'm VERY disapointed with stupid Hollywood end of TDK, yes)

As for the ending, I wasn't upset with it myself. But the only reason I'm fine with the Joker's end in particular is because there was apparently supposed to be more of him in the next movie. =\ But otherwise, I would probably agree that it didn't do him justice as "the conclusion" of Joker.
Anywho. I'm currently reading TDK script and plan on writing notes on my own thoughts and analyzations about the Joker. I would be interested in hearing your analyzations, too, and if you're interested in sharing ideas then perhaps we could exchange emails or something and discuss eventually. I'm just reading TDK script but plan on re-reading it more carefully, at which point I shall be making my 'obvservations'. XD

Well, let's see. The thing is, I think the screewriters fucked up royally, because they should have killed or "disappeared" Joker at the end, and left Two Face's whereabouts open for the next film. Now, they're short Ledger AND Two Face because they killed him, not to mention that all that build-up for such an awesome character went completely to waste with his lame actions at the end of the movie
AND. What The Hell. What I like about the Joker is that he was right all along. Humans can act prettily when life let's them, but faced with hardship, they're gonna sacrifice "the others" with no problem (or little). The whole thing with the ships seemed plenty ridiculous to me, because a real law guy in the civilian ship wouldn't have hesitated at pushing the button the moment he heard the rules. That's ok for the Joker, because he thrives in chaos, and that's chaotic and messy, but it's ridiculous for the citizens. I couldn't buy the conflict at all, because the solution seemed pretty clear to me. Also, STUPID and lame Big Bad Black Prisoner With a Heart of Gold, what the fuck. No. Nobody would sacrifice themselves for another if it really was just a "you or me", unless they were family or friends. Specially not criminals. Period
The Hollywood movie had to have Batman say "Gotham has shown you its citizens are good, noble and self-sacrificing", but I hate this stupid Hollywood ending.
Oh, and the very ending end, when the law "has to go after Batman", is so ridiculous it hurts. Why? Amidst all that chaos, upstanding citizen Dent appears killed and of course it couldn't possibly be:
a)someone going nuts about the mental and moral pressure the Joker is exercising on everyone
b)one of the many enemies the guy had
c)some random guy (thief, thug, murderer, whatever).
No. It has to be Batman. Stupid logic is STUPID
(also, Morgan Freeman's moral is pretty...strange, to say the least)

Any time you want. Good analyzing partners are few and difficult to find. Passionate debaters too. People with interesting interests, redundant as that sounds, are not common ^^. And people with access to scripts are my very best friendsXD (I wanna be a scriptwriter,you know)

Femmeslash is all well and good, if you like women. I don't, so it does nothing for me and I don't read it...not the smutty stuff, anyway.

I don't read femmeslash full stop, it doesn't interest me. Relationships between women don't interest me, maybe because I am one and there's no mystery, who knows.
Otoh, if I am reading a fic (het or slash) that has femmeslash in it as well...bring it on. (I've read many.) Doesn't bother me in the slightest, as long as the women are a good match. But I'm not interested in women in general or particular.
It comes down to everyone is different, and why this has bothered me so much is that judging people on their fic tastes is just petty. It's not hypocrisy, it's taste. That's all.
