I feel you OP! I really loved that movie and I'm still baffled why so many people mock it. It's just a fun action movie!

Right? Like... it doesn't even feel like it was trying to take itself seriously so I don't know why it got so much flak.

I'm normally a fan of these kinds of dumbshit action movies, but this one actually bored me so much I went and got a book to read while my gf kept watching(we were visiting her parents and it was on TV one afternoon). I don't hate it and certainly won't rag on anyone that likes it, just for whatever reason it didn't hit the 'so dumb it's fun' angle for me.

I watched a bit of it and it wasn't for me. But I will absolutely defend your right to dumb fun. For reference, I like Cutthroat Island and Speed 2: Cruise Control, but thought that Superman IV was abysmal.

I enjoyed it. Just a fun action movie with no brain engagement required. I still love the image of the new battleship going into action with all guns blazing, and the old battleship having one last moment of glory.
