Yeah, I've mentioned this before but - different interpretations/mediums generally makes me ship other things.

Take Superman, for example. In the comics, I ship Batman/Superman, on Lois & Clark I ship, well, Lois/Clark, and on Smallville I ship Lex/Clark. Each version has a slightly different chemistry.

That being said, I agree. Sort of. Comics!Batman/Joker is awesome, but for Begins/DarkKnight!Batman, I quite like Batman/Gordon.

Since apparently only a few select people are going to respond to this post with actual comments, I might as well make a real comment: I'm totally with you. My friends don't understand why I ship them together either, I saw screw 'em. Ship who you want to ship and anyone who has a problem with it can go to hell.

There is a glaring flaw in your argument, OP. Snape might find himself physically attracted to a girl he's known since she was a flat-chested, hairless, curveless, and HOPEFULLY squicky-to-think-about-like-that 11/12-year-old and he was on the brink of his midlife crisis. But the fact that Snape is ugly as hell and never washes his hair is a lot harder to ignore when you're face to face with him than when you're phantasizing about him on the internet. This makes it much more likely that, rather than being physically attracted to him, Hermione would have to overcome a certain level of revulsion, (both subconsciously, because society imprints Do Not Want onto unattractive and unhealthy features like his, and consciously, because of his lack of hygiene) should she find herself emotionally/intellectually attracted to Snape.

I'm sure others will tell you extensively about the age-difference, student-teacher problematics, conflicting personalities, and so on and so forth, so I won't bother with that.

I'm not the OP, but wow...you obviously don't read SS/HG fiction do you??? Because most of the one's I've read, and I'm sure the OP has read if he/she is into the fandom at all, they don't have Snape being this OMG SEXY HERO! or anything, they do make him repulsive and they do address everything you said they would need to overcome. Also, Hermione was attracted to Viktor Krum, and if you read about his physical attributes, he's not that different from Snape, so I wouldn't see a problem with that...
