I don't ship them or any other ship with Gojo, but yeah... I don't really see Gojo as a dominant top. Him being a power or bratty bottom has way more appeal to me.

I feel you pain, though. I have a ship in BNHA where the one I imagine as a dominant top is almost exclusively seen as a bottom in the Western fandom. So sad. :(

I feel you! This happens a lot with certain fandoms(JJK and BNHA definitely included, I’d know because I’m part of both as well) where people get it into their heads that one person is a complete bottom, and the other is a complete top, and that becomes the seemingly agreed upon dominant dynamic. And people who think differently about these characters and ships are far outnumbered. I very frequently find myself disagreeing with these popular dynamics, and am very frustrated when I can’t find what I like.

Like, I don’t begrudge anyone for the dynamics they like. I just wish the fandom didn’t seem to get so set on one being more “right” than the other, and just have everyone experiment with what appeals to them as the default instead of those people frequently writing contrary to the dominant dynamics, and have more variety in who tops/bottoms and in ships in general. I don’t like how who some people think would be top and bottom in a ship basically becomes fanon amongst a large group of people, when a lot of the time, the ship itself isn’t even canon. And even if it was, people don’t always have sex the same way every time.

Also, fun fact: Western anime/manga fandom often complains about the seme/uke dicotomy in BL manga, but how they portrait certain ships is just like that same seme/uke thing. I hate it. At least make them switch sometimes????
Incredibily enough, I've always found more variety in the Japanese side of certain fandom, especially BNHA, where the fandom is huge and there is a lot of 25+ years old content creators. Anime/Manga fandom people in the west are... too young... I'm... too old...

Yeah it's just... writing him as this super dom-y top just feels super OOC to me at times. And especially with Megumi, people like to write him in a way that's just kinda creepy and you really feel like they're just projecting their daddy kink on it (doesn't help that in those fics, Megumi almost always turns into the most stereotypical stereotype of a weepy like and just... /sigh)

I could see him just not really getting why what he's doing would be creepy and him not getting or misinterpreting boundaries because him just being ~above~ such petty rules fits with his character but intentionally doing it? Eh.

I don't even feel like he has any "dom vibes" when he's using his powers. He's just over power and basically invincible, but nope, not seeing the dom in him.
I can see him as a gentle top with Megumi, but IMHO power bottom is way more interesting for Gojo.

BTW western anime/anime fandom sure has a thing for daddy kink. Not judging any kinks here, but I myself find that specific kink pretty hilarious and every time a character say "daddy" in a fic I just lose it.

Yeah despite all his talk about being the strongest and the way rules just... don't apply to him he's just acting waaay to spoiled for me to see him as anything but a bratty bottom lol

I mean, especially looking at his past interaction with Toji I can see this going in interesting directions with Megumi and people could still get their daddy kink on but bleh, most don't appear to agree.

I totally agree with the daddy link thing. Like, ykinmk and all but I find it super cringey...
