To me, no piece of fiction has ever truly captured the nature of faith and belief like the M*A*S*H episode "Quo Vadis, Captain Chandler". It is just *chef's kiss*. Especially the "sometimes the answer is no" scene. Just watch it.

YES. I watched this episode with my parents when it first aired in the 70s and that entire scene just engraved itself into my brain. I have never forgotten it, even tho I am no longer a person of faith like I was in my childhood.
