Star Trek Discovery would be better if it had a different lead character. Of all the characters in the show, Burnham is the most boring. She's the weak link in an otherwise strong team.

Agreed. She also smacks of Mary Sue.

I actually think the actress does a great job with the material, it's the writing I find lacking.

They lost me right from the getgo when they said she was Spock's secret human sister. I have read so many bad fanfics over the years which all start with that as a protagonist description.

AYRT Yep, that was my exact reaction too. And then it was all downhill from there for me.
