The real Vlad the Impaler is far scarier and more horrifying than any Dracula movie ever was. Why haven't we had a horror franchise just based on the actual guy?

Because here's a list of all the popular horror genre movies that have been successful at the box office that were set in 15th century Wallachia:

It could be pretty rad though, whether it would appeal to a wide audience or not.

More horrifying, but also more nuanced, as real people tend to be. For it to be accurate, he shouldn’t be portrayed as some horror movie monster who just lives to kill, despite the fact that he still was an awful human being who used barbaric and deranged tactics in the war that even unsettled his subjects as well as his enemies. He was a war hero to Wallachia in a way. But that just shows what being a war hero can actually entail a lot of the time, in a more extreme way than most(not counting the people considered war heroes because they saved people without killing someone else, of course).

Sorry for the ramble, I just find Vlad III very fascinating!
