My pet peeve is when characters who are supposed to be brilliant authors/film makers/whatever create something that is their canon autobiography. It is such lazy writing and so up its own ass.

(Premium example of this - Rory writing her and Lorelai's stories as her magnum opus in Gilmore Girls.)

OH FUCK YES Rory writing about her and her mother's story as if it's something awesome and unique and something that only she experienced and she was so brave and nobody else had it rough like them etc I was like.... really? ...REALLY?
Infuriating.

AYRT It wasn't even just that. It could definitely be a good story, it's just after all the set up of the original GG about Rory's talents and that was all the writers could think of????
