Yeah that sounds more like a reading issue, especially if you've already made the whole "discussed, decided it doesn't matter" RIGHT THERE. the only way I'd figure it might be how you phrased it (but even then, as a reader, you may or may not miss something -- not everyone wants to or will write something explicitly; but it sounds like you had, vs. a throwaway line (using your example of condoms) such as "protection was a passing thought that held no water here.")

It's fanfic, it's fantasy. Even without the mention of the condoms, I don't see what's the big deal.

Sometimes with people, what they expect to see (or not see) trumps what's actually there in words. It's weird, but I see it happen with secrets on FS all the time. It's like people pick up on a few key words, jump to conclusions about what OP is trying to say and then (especially if it's a fairly common topic) they quickly post a counter-argument to something OP didn't actually say.

I'm sorry you're getting obnoxious comments. If it's on AO3 I say you delete them from existence. If it's on tumblr or some other site idk what you can do about it except ignore these folks.
