Co fucking signed! I actually yell "watch the road!!" (if I'm alone, or mutter it under my breath if there's people around) when it happens.

I kinda like it. I always enjoy when things kinda lean into the unreality.

(Anonymous) 2022-04-21 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
To the point where I actually cheer in movies when this results in a crash! It is no less than they deserve.

(Anonymous) 2022-04-21 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I noticed that it is actually worse in modern movies where the actors are in car on a trailer pretending to be driving, than in those real old movies where they are in a set with rear projection. Like the actors try harder to pretend they are actually driving, only occasionally glancing over, to sell the acting when it is on a soundstage.

Yeah, I freak out too! I'm like "stop looking into the rearview mirror tyrig to make eye contact! You fool!"

Especially since I started learning to drive, I'm like how the hell was anyone ever able to hold a conversation with me while they drove??!!

I ALWAYS expect them to get t-boned, it makes me pretty anxious.

(Anonymous) 2022-04-21 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't be silly. If a truck is going to T-bone them, they'll film in profile through the driver's or passenger's side window.

(Anonymous) 2022-04-22 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
haha

(Anonymous) 2022-04-22 01:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Just because you're right doesn't mean I don't worry!

(Anonymous) 2022-04-21 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
When that happens, I start expecting a crash or some sort of surprise in the road. If that doesn't happen or the character driving isn't shown to be otherwise inattentive, then I think less of the director because then there's no good reason for it narratively.

Fucking THIS. Who does that? It jolts me right out of the scene, i HATE it.

(Anonymous) 2022-04-22 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
IKR? They could just pull over or wait until they get to their destination, easy fix.

(Anonymous) 2022-04-22 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, for me this is right up there with The Obviously Empty Coffee Cup.

(Anonymous) 2022-04-22 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
And this I don't get! Like, how hard is it to put liquid in a cup for a scene?

(Anonymous) 2022-04-23 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Apparently it's difficult to act with them in the event of lots of takes, because the coffee cups are going to be different weights.

(Anonymous) 2022-04-22 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, what I hate about it most is that I never know whether I should be expecting a crash or not, so then I'm distracted for the entire scene, and if there is a crash it's annoying because it feels like the characters brought it on themselves, but if there isn't a crash it's annoying because I haven't been able to pay attention to the scene properly because I was waiting to see if there was gonna be a crash.
