I haven't seen the movie but I was worried it would be too much like WWDITS because humour is super very hit or miss for me and WWDITS was a miss for me.

I was able to push through because it really was a cute show (MINUS THAT ENDING WTF YOU TWO GET BACK HERE AND TALK THIS OUT RIGHT NOW), though I did have to mute/ff through some of the scenes.

I haven't watched it precisely because humor is hit and miss with me. Well, that, and a particular hyperfixiation I have with Blackbeard not having his beard ribbons, but that's a ME problem, not a The Series problem.

You get one episode with beard bows(?) lol! But yeah I was super hesitant about watching. I am glad I did but I can understand why people don't.

People have told me! And I know that it's a silly little thing but I've been a fan of Blackbeard and his beard-ribbons since I was a little girl and found out that this pirate whom many of my classmates thought was the biggest, macho man ever, would take his time to groom, clean and put color ribbons on his beard. So for me it's very puzzling that in a very queerfriendly series, they would take out a bit of his fabulousness. So I want to watch, but first I've got to mentally prepare so my obsession won't get in the way :)

NAYRT but he's got plenty of fabulousness. I've never been a fan of Blackbeard depictions in media precisely because of that whole macho-scary-man thing, but while I'm ambivalent about the show in general, Taika's depiction of Blackbeard felt more in line with the historical pirate's very deliberate theatrics than any Big Scary Manly Man role.

I am told that but... that's the thing. HE is fabulous as far as everyone tell me, but they took the ONE thing that we know historical Blackbeard had that made him so fabulous and didn't use it? And it is just weird to me.
Again, not a Series problem. It's a ME problem, and I know it's stupid and small and ridiculous, but you know how hyperfixiations are. I'll get over it and watch it, I hope.

The most hilarious thing to me was finding out the broad strokes facts of it, including the end of season 1, are historically accurate

Yes! My dash have been sarcastic other articles about historical accuracy, but learning that a lot of it WAS accurate is hilarious
