Not really. I'm not saying the name is ahistorical, what I meant is that naming a child "Alyce" TODAY would look like you're just using a speshul spelling to be more ~unique~ than parents using regular old Alice.

Or they won’t think anything of it, since it’s a been a common alternate spelling of Alice from at least the 1300s until yesterday, but do go on about speshul fake name spellings, you judgmental cow.

I'm sure it was common in the 1300s because spelling was not standardized back then. Now that spelling is standardized, it is an unusual spelling. Not as out-there as some I've seen, but unusual compared to Alice.
