103: I haven't read Naruto in a long time (RL pwned me for several months), but sadly I can only expect her to get the treatment pretty much every female character gets in fiction; she's being set up to fail. Male characters are supposed to overcome ridiculous odds, but for some reason female characters are not.

109: Since I don't think Lelouch had romantic feelings for anyone in the series (though he clearly loved several people in a platonic way) I didn't interpret his and C.C.'s relationship in a way that made me even consider them as a couple.

Also, I certainly wouldn't call her a Mary Sue! Most people didn't like her, she never outshone the main character, ad she didn't break the laws of the universe where the story takes place.

The only character acting like any type of cliché was Shirley, who ran into danger despite warnings, and the fact that she should have known that the only thing she could possibly add to the situation was another distraction for Lelouch. I mean, Code Geass was so good with its characters otherwise that I really didn't expect one of them to suddenly be reduced to a plot robot. Disappointing, but at least it was only that time.

121: You called One Piece shit? *brandishes sword* (j/k XD)

Wait, never mind, you don't like Soul Eater either? It's got homage to Twin Peaks and everything! You clearly have no taste at all (yes, I'm still kidding).

130: I Just... completely disagree. Slash is about writing characters IC, just like all fanfic. There is no damn standard of male gayness that dictates how they behave! What we must look at is how these specific characters behave, and make their relationships believable based on that.

146: catastrophic to whom? If it's yourself you're worried about, I think you're a damn coward, and even worse than "green". Sounds like "blue" would be a better friend in any case. What are you afraid of? Losing your bnf "connections"?

150: It's really hard to find variation among female characters, isn't it? You should check out Olivia Armstrong in Full Metal Alchemist; she's the only female character of her kind I've ever seen, and she's awesome. Also, Soul Eater is great when it comes to female characters; They're about half of the cast (amazing, I know), and one is even the main character. In a shônen adventure!

151: Why not write an original fic, then? Sounds like you're more invested in your OCs than the canon you planned to write for, so it would probably be a good idea, right?

158: I just think the storyline has become sillier and sillier, heh. Still very entertaining though! And I love Ciel's and Sebastian's voices. Ciel in particular is fantastic, but what else could you expect? It's Sakamoto Maaya. *besotted*

164: I thought Dean was the most popular in the fandom, and that most people disliked Sam? *is not in the fandom*

164. It's been pretty evenly divided between Dean!girls and Sam!girls in the past. This season came with some awful plots, unfavorable characterization, a character to slash Dean with who isn't his brother, and in general a lot of new material for wank. Fandom's in the process of exploding. I'm not sure where all the pieces are going to land.

I just hate how those type of series go on FOR-EV-ERRRR. Just...ugh. I think the only reasons I will keep watching Soul Eater is 1) out of boredom and 2) to see what happens to Stein and Maka/Soul. Other than that I don't care for the story and I think the setting is incredibly dumb and illogical. I guess it's like a train wreck...I just can't look away.

The thing is, "IC" is very subjective, and there are a lot of people who expect that characters in slashfics conform to a "standard of male gayness" to be IC and realistic, and look down on people who don't share their views.

Taking myself for example, I like seme/uke. I prefer it, actually. Were I to write a story about X/Y with sex scenes where X tops Y it'd be still completely IC for me. But I'd get at least one comment or a rant saying how it's not realistic because Y is too manly to be on bottom and anyway Real Gay Sex is not like that blah blah blah.(*) and I'm doing it wrong and I must be an idiot teenage fangirl who hasn't seen the light yet.

And this is what has been irking me about English language fandom ever since I became involved in it. So many people think that realism is the only way to go and people must be as realistic as possible or else they're doing it wrong. It annoys me when I read slashfic where the author obviously has the couple switch just because she's afraid that otherwise the story wouldn't be realistic, or where authors feel the need to justify everything that may not conform to the perceived rules of real male gayness. It weirds me out that people apparently should feel guilty about enjoying stuff if it's not completely realistic.

(*Ignoring, for the moment, the gross misbeliefs and stereotypes people have about seme/uke dynamics; or the fact that real gay men are not a homogenous group and I happen to know gay guys who are exclusively tops/bottoms; or the fact that contrary to popular belief being on bottom does not emasculate a guy.)

THIS. All of it.

And unless we actually see the characters having sex in canon, how they prefer to express themselves sexually is very much up to the author's interpretation.
