It seems like rewatching is all I do these days. I don't have the bandwidth for new things. Last new tv show I watched was Fantasy Island this past summer. I was just curious if other people were rewatching things too.

Someone mentioned to me that it's an anxiety thing? Like I have so much stuff in my 'to watch' lists across various platforms but then when it comes down to deciding WHAT to watch my brain goes, "No new, only familiar!" D:

This makes sense to me, although I didn't tag it as anxiety. Just rewatching what you liked (the familiar) as a source of comfort.

That's probably part of it. Also, watching old favorites doesn't require as much brain power as watching something new does. And my job is busy these days and when I come home I want to destress and relax and that's easiest with things I've already seen and know I love.

Also, if I'm watching something new, it's at least a little more stressful because I don't know where the story is going to go next. And I also don't know what parts are going to annoy me, or which episodes are going to be bad, so I can't skip them. Which TBH is very much something that I do when I'm rewatching stuff. When I go back and rewatch X Files, there's no way in hell I'm watching Space.

the few new shows I've tried watching recently were mostly really disappointing.
