I love the fact that the joke is that Homer, being a safety inspector, would notice that the lesbian bar didn't have a fire exist.

OP: I think many of us thought he was going to say something homophobic but as soon he noticed the fire exit, it was like "of course he would notice that! That's his job!".

I always forget that he's a safety inspector because of how often he puts himself and everyone else in danger. (Maybe he's more relaxed and better able to work in a bar environment?)
