I can't figure out if the vax side effects wore off early this time, or if it's just that my usual symptoms are so overwhelming that I'm not noticing little things like crushing fatigue or a slight fever or muscle aches.

Also the fic I posted that I thought was going to piss people off apparently didn't (yet), so that's good. :D

Was this your 2nd vax or the booster, and was it the same brand you got before? (Not that it really matters, I'm just nosy.)

I got 2 Pfizers and a Moderna. The 2nd Pfizer had the worst side effects as far as fever/fatigue went. The booster didn't really come with any of those side effects, but did come with the worst arm pain. Like, all the joints in that arm hurt for a week. The first year the flu vax had the swine flu added in did the same thing to my joints. Autoimmune disorders run in my family and I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up pulling the RA straw.

2nd Pfizer shot. The first one seemed to hit me "like a normal person", with just a couple days of being really achy and not wanting to move, and my shoulder was a little more achy than the rest of me. This one, I was fine until I went to bed that night, and "Well if I get no side effects this time, that'll be okay by me!"

Then woke up after a couple hours with my shoulder in so much pain I couldn't find a position that was comfortable, and trying to lift a glass to take a drink was nearly unbearable, plus I had that skin-crawly feeling that suggests I had a fever. All of Friday I was pretty much flat, no muscle aches but the shoulder, but just horrible fatigue, and had to really psyche myself up to even roll over to type on the laptop or get a drink. Then pretty much passed out for 7 hours and woke up with indications I'd had a fever and it broke (I never sweat except when that's going on), and was instead flattened all day today by the usual GI nonsense. Which was so bad I might not have noticed anything else. :P

Two Pfizers and a Moderna or vice versa seems to be the best way to go for maximum protection, and minimum side effects as a bonus, so if this lasts long enough, that's what I'll be doing too. Apparently "covid arm" is a thing that happens with Moderna - a friend got her fourth shot (second booster) not long ago and she said that she had really bad arm pain and welts with the first couple, but then started switching arms every time and it never happened again. So that sounds like a plan.

Yeah, I definitely got covid arm with the Moderna, but didn't really get the fever/crappy 'coming down with something' feeling. The joint pain just seems to be how my body processes weird immune stuff, but since rheumatoid arthritis flare-ups are one of the actual documented rare side-effects of the mrna vaccines it does make me a little nervous for what the future holds for me.

Ugh, yeah. That's not a great omen to have. :/ Kind of similar, I was worried my side effects were going to manifest as GI disturbances (since covid itself sometimes manifests as a GI illness) in me because well, pretty much everything does. As unpleasant as it was, I feel like I dodged a bullet.

Oof. I had honest-to-god food poisoning earlier this year and took a covid test just to make sure it wasn't some weird manifestation of covid. I have serious paranoia about giving covid to someone else because I don't know I have it. That was actually food poisoning though, which I also don't wish on anyone.

Yeah, one of the people I know, she and her boyfriend had to duck out of a dance competition because he had "food poisoning" in mid-2020 and I was like "....Hmmm..." and eventually since it didn't let up for several days, she took him to the hospital. I was not surprised at the results. :/

All the more reason I just stayed isolated all this time. I've been phobic of GI illnesses since I was young... turns out it might have been self-preserving instinct since every time I've had one, it's followed by a massive symptom flare that is worse with each incarnation and lasts years. (11 years running with the current one.) I'd really rather wind up on a respirator but that couldn't be guaranteed.

Glad to hear that about your fic!

Thanks! Yeah, I was admittedly being a little bit trollish, but the show has that same sort of sense of humor so I was hoping for people to laugh at the plot twist rather than be annoyed. But you never know. (I'm already working on something that will hopefully please those who were hoping it was going where it initially looked like it was going...)
