for me it depends on the game, stuff like baldurs gate yea you're just paying to play a worse version earlier, but online shooters like overwatch for example are not going to burn you out on the actual release.

that said i am actually playing bg3 a lot because it's just so good, even though i think early access is the devil...

Definitely depends on the game - just look at Vampire Survivors. Has been in Early Access for months and is still a fantastic game. Very simple concept but addictive gameplay. Updated so regularly that there's always something new and fun to discover - very much like free DLC to the base game. It just gets better and better each time you play it. Also only $3.00 on Steam
