(Anonymous) 2022-05-06 03:23 am (UTC)(link)But also! Even if they update the setting, 80s nostalgia is still big! There's synthpop elements in modern alt-pop, which Jem and the Holograms could do, full-on synthwave for the Misfits, and modern AOR for The Stingers! Charlie Adler could still direct the voice acting! I want this so much

Not everything needs a reboot.
Do a sequel instead. Or nothing at all.

(Anonymous) 2022-05-07 10:49 am (UTC)(link)I said that it’s fine if you disagree, hence it’s obviously fine for you to voice your opinion. My problem was the way in which you voiced your opinion being dismissive to the point of being borderline rude, albeit likely unintentionally on your part.
In an irl conversation, most people would find it kind of off-putting if they gave an opinion like “I wish there could be a reboot of my favorite show”, and someone just responded “No. No more reboots. Either a sequel or nothing.”. It wouldn’t be off-putting because there’s anything wrong with that opinion, it’s actually a very common opinion that there’s too many reboots(although the over-abundance of sequels is just as much of a problem, and has been for just as long). It would be off-putting because the tone and language of the response was completely dismissive of the first person’s opinion, in a way that seems to belittle that opinion a bit, and provides no constructive points or a way to further the conversation.
You can have any opinion you want, and I literally didn’t say otherwise. For someone who had their words twisted into something they didn’t say in the thread for a different secret(the physical media secret), you sure don’t seem to have a problem doing the same to other people’s words.
And on a related note, I completely acknowledge it’s possible you didn’t mean for your response to be taken the way I read it. And if you didn’t mean your response to be taken that way, maybe saying so instead of getting defensive and persnickety would have been more helpful, and would make your sincerity more convincing. Seriously, all you would have to do is say “I didn’t mean it that way”, and it would be believable. Because tone is tricky over text, and sometimes things can be read as more negative than they were intended to be. It’s pretty easy to clear up that kind of thing when you try. I fold immediately the moment people say they didn’t mean something in a negative way, that’s all it takes.
And while you can have any opinion you want, and can state that opinion freely, when you state your opinion in response to someone else’s as “No. None of what you’re saying should happen”, others are in turn free to criticize the way you phrased said opinion. Your response was not quite “No, your opinion’s stupid”, but it’s still dismissive, and can be read in a similar way. All I’m saying is, it’s really not that hard to say “I disagree”, when you don’t agree with someone’s opinion, instead of shutting down everything they said with “No. None of that”.
I was still giving the benefit of the doubt that you didn’t mean it as rudely as it could be read. But seeing you immediately get defensive and pretend I said you were wrong for having a different opinion than OP, and/or that you were wrong for “saying your opinion like everyone else”, I’m not sure if that benefit is warranted. Because that’s clearly not what I said, and it takes a real bad faith reading to frame criticizing the way you said something as saying you shouldn’t say your opinion at all. Unlike you, I wasn’t shutting down someone’s opinion just because I personally disagreed(hence me saying “speak for yourself”, instead of “no”). Just like you can have a different opinion than someone else, I can have the opinion that you could have phrased things better. Oh no, how terrible of me?
Like, what was the purpose of saying your response to the secret the way you did? And why does someone pointing out how it was dismissive get you so pressed? I seriously don’t understand what the point of any of this was, starting from why you felt the need to straight up Nope someone’s opinion?

(Anonymous) 2022-05-08 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)Also, ignoring literally everything someone said, and not addressing any of their arguments, preferring to basically just say “shut up”? Very telling that you have nothing. No actual substantial defense.
Oh well, off you pop.

Nah, you don't have anything I need to defend against. You decided I said things I most definitely did not, decided to go on a tirade that wasn't worth reading, and decided my telling you such, meant I hadn't been online or whatever, in 2 days.
Protip- I don't comment on every secrets post.
So, again, take your nit picking and wannabe bitching elsewhere, Anon. You're tiresome now.
