Childhood vs adult tastes

What foods did you like as a kid that you dislike now? Or what foods do you enjoy now that you hated as a kid?

I ate Trix cereal one time when I was past puberty and puked, and I hadn't been feeling sick before. That's probably the real reason the ads said Trix are for kids. I also loved Dr. Pepper as a kid and don't care for it at all now. I don't like Twinkies now either but I liked them as a kid.
I tasted beer as a kid and hated it but I like it now, but I'm sure that's a common experience.

Trix and Froot Loops tended to give me diarrhea. I can drink Dr. Pepper but it doesn't mix well with certain foods. You could drink it with every dinner you eat, but you wouldn't feel great after a while.

I hated broccoli and onions as a kid. I really love both of them now. Same with Brussel sprouts.

I liked carrots as a kid and hate them now. I loved celery as a kid and now don't really care for it.

my sister was like that with onions too. I've always liked them.

I'm not sure what happened. I disliked them as a kid, but at some point in college I had onions and bell pepper grilled and suddenly onions were my favorite thing. I still really love them and could eat them all day every day.

I loved cheap lunch meat as a kid. Can't stomach it now.

There are a lot of things I hated as a kid that I enjoy now. Mustard, asparagus, Brussel sprouts, sour cream.

Me too! Like that pressed sliced ham that looks like mystery meat. I loved it, but now it seems gross.

Used to love McDonald's food as a kid - and this was after they started turning the food into shit. Won't go to a McDonald's now unless I really need coffee. At the most, maybe an egg mcmuffin.

There were SO MANY vegetables I thought I hated but I now can't imagine why I thought that way. The biggest one is onions. Can't believe I thought I could live without onions. But there's others like cabbage, sprouts, cauliflower. Even the cliche broccoli I was unsure about for a while.

But the biggest thing I want to yell at kid!me about is CHEESE. How could I not like cheese?! What is WRONG with you?

Having said all that, I still hate mushrooms and tomatoes. The latter is probably a symptom of UK growing/weather/import fuckery because I can eat them fine whenever I visit e.g. Italy.

Not a food but I could drink Coke when I was a kid and now I loathe the stuff.

Onions are the best thing ever. They are great on their own and improve almost any meal. I don't understand how kid me could dislike them.

I miss cheese. It is a migraine trigger for me, so I haven't been able to eat any in almost a year now. That and chocolate. Alcohol is the other food trigger, but I don't miss that nearly as much as the first two.

For some reason as a kid I was super into orange soda. Now I only like diet sodas.

I used to drink grape soda and orange soda as a kid. Now? It tends to make me queasy.
Onions, like garlic, are awesome. How the Hare Krishnas live without eating them, I'll never understand. (https://food.krishna.com/article/why-no-garlic-or-onions)

I was a very picky eater as a kid. I was the quintessential "hates anything texturally or flavorally complex or distinctive" kid. Just give me simple carbs, morning, noon, and night.

I now like just about everything--though admittedly I still get easily squicked if produce is overripe, or if meat is fatty or greasy. But as long as those pitfalls are avoided, I'll eat just about anything.

OTOH, I've lost the majority of my sweet tooth, and I'm way more discerning about the sweet things I will eat, now. I literally cannot fathom how I used to enjoy those cheapo chocolate Easter bunnies. I'm not even tempted by cheap chocolate or cheap iced cream, now-- it all just tastes so bland and unenticing.

I also didn't care for onions as a kid. Specifically raw onions, like on burgers or something. They were so pungent and it was just too much for me. As an adult I love onion, but I still don't like biting into large chunks or slices.

I thought mushrooms were gross when I was a kid but love them now. It's possible I just didn't like the ways my parents prepared them.

I don't think mine changed at all, honestly. Only thing that changed is that I got more willing to try things I hadn't tried before.

I mean I drink coffee now, but only because I realized why it has always tasted horrible to me when I drank it black, and now I know what to put in it to make it taste as good as it smells.

I still hate raw apples and caramel apples. I'd much rather eat apple pie or drink apple juice. That never changed! But I eat more fruit and veggies now than I did at age seven. I didn't like spinach as a child and now I will eat it raw in salads, or heated up (from a tin). I didn't like the idea of Brussel sprouts and now I love them.

I used to eat cheapo brand ham (cold cuts). Now I won't touch it. Lost the taste for it. I still hate salami. I have never eated olive loaf & am interested in trying it.

I hated cream cheese as a child, so I never really liked bagels. Woke up one morning when I was in college, literally on New Years Day, with a mighty craving for bagels and cream cheese. I love both now.

I was OK with mushrooms as a kid and I can't stand them now. Taste smell, texture - hate all of it.
I have a lot of strong preferences towards dishes that are unique to my region, was trying to name them in English and was getting lost at Google

I can't with bologna anymore, though it was fine as a kid.

Grape-nuts was okay when I was a kid, I mean, it was a little like chowing down on pea gravel from a texture and sound perspective, but I was okay with it then. Still tastes fine, but I can't stand the sound of it now.

When I was a baby, I would count my peas in Italian instead of eating them.

Now I enjoy them very much, especially with onions and mushrooms.
