What movie or genre do you want a reboot of? What would you change?

Re: Based on 1

I'd like a Star Trek Discovery reboot. I'd keep the spaceship named Discovery. I wouldn't even keep the cinematographer beyond that though.

I'd like to see Jordan Peele take on Song of the South. There is a lot of African American folkore in there, and that doesn't deserve to be lost just because Disney wanted their thinly veiled happy slave narrative.

I will always be sad we've never gotten a book-accurate adaption of Wizard of Oz. I'm not looking for perfection, but can we at least get a version where the villain isn't the hero, the heroes aren't made out to be bad or evil, and/or it isn't "all a dream?"

I think a Chronicles of Narnia tv series could be fun. But they need to start with Magician's Nephew since it hasn't been adapted yet and is the best of the series.

I actually like the Warcraft movie, but since we aren't going to get a sequel to that, a reboot would be cool.

We need a full on hard reboot of Doctor Who. It needs to completely junk the current continuity and go back and do a whole episode one reboot.

Weekend Plans

[personal profile] kaijinscendre 2022-05-06 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
What is everyone doing this weekend?

I am visiting my sister. We are getting Thai food and watching the new Batman tonight. Tomorrow we are doing some shopping. Not sure about Sunday.

Unpacking and laundry. Lots of sleep and kitty time because my kitty is still really stressed about me being gone for a week.

If I'm up to it, will go see Dr. Strange 2 on Sunday. May watch some other MCU movies this weekend, though not yet sure which ones.

Hopefully visiting my best friend. I haven't been able to do that for a couple of weeks now and up until recently I had been visiting them about twice a week.

Well, already bleached my hair and I look hideous as a blonde so I really better get around to re-dyeing it tomorrow. Not sure what color (or combo) to go with, I'm not sure I feel up to doing the whole rainbow again. Maybe just blue/purple. Or streaky purple/lavender.

My time since I've been out of work hours so far this week has been about finishing up little details on costumes I hope to wear to the con in two weeks, so I'll probably keep doing that until I run out of little details. In front of more Tiger & Bunny when possible (I don't want to completely prevent my family from watching Netflix at their place, hahah) since when I was watching it the first time it wasn't with an eye towards "what do I need to keep in mind if I want to write fic?"

Childhood vs adult tastes

What foods did you like as a kid that you dislike now? Or what foods do you enjoy now that you hated as a kid?

I ate Trix cereal one time when I was past puberty and puked, and I hadn't been feeling sick before. That's probably the real reason the ads said Trix are for kids. I also loved Dr. Pepper as a kid and don't care for it at all now. I don't like Twinkies now either but I liked them as a kid.
I tasted beer as a kid and hated it but I like it now, but I'm sure that's a common experience.

I hated broccoli and onions as a kid. I really love both of them now. Same with Brussel sprouts.

I liked carrots as a kid and hate them now. I loved celery as a kid and now don't really care for it.

I loved cheap lunch meat as a kid. Can't stomach it now.

There are a lot of things I hated as a kid that I enjoy now. Mustard, asparagus, Brussel sprouts, sour cream.

Used to love McDonald's food as a kid - and this was after they started turning the food into shit. Won't go to a McDonald's now unless I really need coffee. At the most, maybe an egg mcmuffin.

There were SO MANY vegetables I thought I hated but I now can't imagine why I thought that way. The biggest one is onions. Can't believe I thought I could live without onions. But there's others like cabbage, sprouts, cauliflower. Even the cliche broccoli I was unsure about for a while.

But the biggest thing I want to yell at kid!me about is CHEESE. How could I not like cheese?! What is WRONG with you?

Having said all that, I still hate mushrooms and tomatoes. The latter is probably a symptom of UK growing/weather/import fuckery because I can eat them fine whenever I visit e.g. Italy.

Not a food but I could drink Coke when I was a kid and now I loathe the stuff.

I was a very picky eater as a kid. I was the quintessential "hates anything texturally or flavorally complex or distinctive" kid. Just give me simple carbs, morning, noon, and night.

I now like just about everything--though admittedly I still get easily squicked if produce is overripe, or if meat is fatty or greasy. But as long as those pitfalls are avoided, I'll eat just about anything.

OTOH, I've lost the majority of my sweet tooth, and I'm way more discerning about the sweet things I will eat, now. I literally cannot fathom how I used to enjoy those cheapo chocolate Easter bunnies. I'm not even tempted by cheap chocolate or cheap iced cream, now-- it all just tastes so bland and unenticing.

I also didn't care for onions as a kid. Specifically raw onions, like on burgers or something. They were so pungent and it was just too much for me. As an adult I love onion, but I still don't like biting into large chunks or slices.

I thought mushrooms were gross when I was a kid but love them now. It's possible I just didn't like the ways my parents prepared them.

I don't think mine changed at all, honestly. Only thing that changed is that I got more willing to try things I hadn't tried before.

I mean I drink coffee now, but only because I realized why it has always tasted horrible to me when I drank it black, and now I know what to put in it to make it taste as good as it smells.

I still hate raw apples and caramel apples. I'd much rather eat apple pie or drink apple juice. That never changed! But I eat more fruit and veggies now than I did at age seven. I didn't like spinach as a child and now I will eat it raw in salads, or heated up (from a tin). I didn't like the idea of Brussel sprouts and now I love them.

I used to eat cheapo brand ham (cold cuts). Now I won't touch it. Lost the taste for it. I still hate salami. I have never eated olive loaf & am interested in trying it.

I hated cream cheese as a child, so I never really liked bagels. Woke up one morning when I was in college, literally on New Years Day, with a mighty craving for bagels and cream cheese. I love both now.
