I don't think the Indiana Jones movies are dated at all, because they're set in the 30s-50s. People weren't woke then.

I'd rather see a new series in the universe, like some student of Dr. Jones who was inspired to search for...one of the seven wonders of the world because they were disappeared by a villain who put them in an undersea museum or something.

The 2nd movie is extremely, extremely dated. And it's not just the in-universe attitudes of the fictional characters - the movie absolutely puts its thumb on the scale. I don't have a big problem with the 1st or 3rd but Temple of Doom is incredibly racist (which is unfortunate because it's awesome otherwise).

This.

I'd almost agree with you if it was just about people being racist to one another, within the historical context. But some of the movies are just plain old racist in a way that wasn't great at the time the film was made and definitely looks bad now. Temple of Doom was just... yeah.

Yeah, Raiders certainly has some racist parts, but is not dependent on them. Temple of Doom is entirely premised on racism.

“I don't think the Indiana Jones movies are dated at all, because they're set in the 30s-50s. People weren't woke then.”

This is a weird bad take. And it’s just plain untrue, as other anons have explained.

Your second paragraph though, I agree with. That would make for a good spinoff.
