I just always feel like he's playing Tom Cruise. And sometimes that works when the role is supposed to be someone similar to Tom Cruise. But that's not acting! And I see people talking about him as oh, some generational great actor! It's ridiculous.

Also the Mission Impossible movies aren't that good. They're fine but again, people talk about Tom Cruise as the greatest action star of all time, and that's ridiculous. He's not in the top 5.

He totally is always playing Tom Cruise. He's not an actor, he's a stuntman.

I feel like Tom Cruise is always playing some variant of Tom Cruise, but I also think there can be quite a lot of variety in the variants of Tom Cruise that he plays.

His characters in Magnolia, Interview With The Vampire, and Edge Of Tomorrow are very much different people, despite all having a certain distinctive Tom Cruiseyness about them.

I think he's a good actor, over all, but I won't argue with him being overrate, because yeah, definitely.

+1, also I think he used to act when a director made him, and he was good at it, but 90% of his output is deliberate "Tom Cruise movies".
