Maybe not racist, but perhaps straddling the line in some ways of including old tropes from racist eras in entertainment. You don’t have to be a full on racist for it to still be a bit iffy to immediately pair up two black characters who have barely interacted, on a show that’s predominantly white. Granted, his run, and the ones after him were rather diverse, so I know “predominantly white” isn’t exactly the case. But this pairing that came out of nowhere is still suspect regardless of that. I don’t believe RTD knowingly racist, or even racist at all. But I do believe he doesn’t think about the implications of these types of decisions.

I agree that it wasn't good and I hated Martha and Micky getting together too, it was bad. And I am sure that he writes a lot of things that are not thought-through or just plainly biased. He is human and a white man. But it's a thing you can change with more diverse writing room and sensitivity readers. So I don't think that his past mistakes are necessarily reflect his future writting. he can make new ones

It was a bad writing choice but people on here act like it makes him a fucking Klansman. And it's ridiculous.

And I don’t agree with that part. I don’t think he’s racist, especially not just based on this one decision.
