This is why I have an office in one of the spare bedrooms...and why my wife has her sewing room...

Seconding this. Nothing wrong with wanting a bit of your own space.

I'm guess I'm just lucky enough to be married to someone who enjoys anime as much as I do, and the same kind of anime as well.

this is why I love being single and having my own place!

I'm not living with anybody right now, but I know I wouldn't be able to do it at all if I didn't have a room of my own. My mom and her husband are both the same way--they have a three-bedroom house, and while they share a bedroom, the other two are his den and her sewing/craft room. They each understand the need for one's own space, and respect it, and I swear that's what's kept them married this long (almost 17 years).

If having a separate room isn't possible yet, you could get a cabinet with doors and turn the inside into some sort of crazy fandom shrine. That way, you can enjoy it and then shut the doors on it. I know a fannish couple who did this; they wanted decor that was not Hello Kitty-meets-Star Wars and their apartment had only one bedroom.

But yes, wanting a space of your own to fill with the things that interest you is perfectly normal. So is being happy with your sweetie while also having crushes on fictional characters. So I hope you get your room!

Hm, the more I see these kinds of posts, the more glad I am that my RL friends know about my fandom stuff :P

I share a room with my husband, and it's spacious enough that we're both fine having fanthings lying around. The only thing I find hard is when he touches my computer while I'm writing fanfic, because he doesn't 'get' fanfic so I don't want him to catch a glance at mine. Writing it while he's in the room, np, even smut, so long as he's not hovering behind me at all.

My plan is a home office or somesuch.

It's perfectly normal to want your own space OP. No matter how much we connect with people we still need time to just be us.

I'm moving in with a guy quite soon and...yeah, I think I'm gonn have that same problem. Dang it.

Personal spaces are good! My partner and I practically live in each others' pockets, but we still have different rec rooms. They're not like ME ONLY ZONE STAY OUT types of things- most of the time we hang out together in one of the other- but he likes doing his sewing with his posters up on the wall and his machines/fabric/equipment set up exactly as he wants, and I like having my computer surrounded by my own geeky stuff. :T

I share a bedroom with my bf too. He's not into decorating anything it seems like, but I am. It mostly consists of stuffed things and toys; stuff he considers really silly and childish. I don't want to invade our bedroom space with this stuff, but I don't exactly have many other places to put it, so it clusters around my computer desk. I don't know if you guys share a desk too (or if you have a laptop) but if you DO have your own desk, think about decorating it with your stuff. If your desk is out in the living room, decorate the area around your desk, that's what I do. Your bf should respect that you want to personalize your space, and be happy that you're trying to be considerate of him by not bringing it into the bedroom. :)

My husband couldn't care less about my fandom stuff. We have a wallscroll for Weiss Kreuz in the living room along with figures everywhere.
