I haven't seen Dawn of the Dead, but zombies are the reason I'm pro-gun. I don't care if they aren't real, the idea of reanimated corpses scares me so badly that I have for-serious zombie contingency plans, and I check for emergency exits and safe places whenever I go somewhere, just in case. If I did watch Dawn of the Dead, I would probably freak out so badly that I would move away from human habitations just to avoid the chance of any encounter with the undead.

I do those things too. Never watch Dawn of the Dead. It was the movie that made me fear zombies. For months afterwards, I could almost hear their moans and gait at night and I hardly slept, and would always worry about opening my door in the morning, for fear my family may have woken up as undead, and may have to put them down. I would always quitely turn on the TV in my room, to check the news for any signs the undead were rising.

They plague my dreams and there is never a day where I don't think about an outbreak happening, no hour or place in which I don't consider what my options are if it happends right then. I always take note of the exits and any possible make shift weapons.

I know they aren't real. But that doesn't change my stance, nor my dreams.
