Re: My AC stopped working and it is 90 degrees out

Ack!!
I know it's not a substitute, but do you have a fan? Can you put it in a shady window? Or just put it on you? And then - damp washcloth in the freezer for a few, then put it on the back of your neck. That always made me feel better.

Stay cool, Anon!

Fans are great. I have two fans in my room, the ceiling fan and then another. We have an AC, but my parents usually keep the house several degrees warmer than I like. So especially in the summer having two fans really helps.

I do a box fan in the window until it's absolutely too hot to deal, then I reluctantly turn on the AC. But I much prefer open windows and a fan. Now that don't work out of the house during most of the week, I can be home to close down the sun-side windows and curtains, and keep the house cooler, longer.

But fans are imperative! :D

I really want to get another fan and bring it to my office. My office is sun-side in the afternoon, and even with the shades closed it still gets pretty warm.

Yuck, I'll bet. I'm plotting to get an attic fan put in - that's what I grew up with - it can cool a house down in minutes.

Yes! Cold, cold washcloth on top of your eyelids and forehead, and then lie in bed in the dark and put the cloth on the back of your neck too if you can.

Yes! Cold or heat, depending on which you need, over your forehead and eyes works wonders for many things. And feels really good.
