People on Tumblr refer to fave characters as “Blorbo from my shows.” I’ve seen blogs that do this called “Blorbo from my uterus.”

I'm glad I drifted away from this site - it surely gets more and more weird

'Blorbo from my uterus' is just really funny to me for some reason.

But regarding the actual secret, I follow a fair few parents, and while sometimes they mention their kids ('x said this funny thing at breakfast' or the less direct 'I'll commit a murder if I have to sit through one more hour of Caillou'), when it comes to content I didn't sign up for, they're all way more likely to post about a new fandom I'm not in than they are to suddenly become mommy bloggers just because they became parents. Like, ESPECIALLY on tumblr, but across all the social media I'm on.

Yeah, parenthood rearranges your priorities, but for a lot of people, getting online to talk about your grown-up shows/books/games/movies is the escape from just being momdad. Not everyone, sure, but a lot of people. It's important to have a hobby space separate from your responsibilities-- that's as true for parents as for the rest of us.

Also, if you stick with the sort of parents who don't trade their hobbies for their kids long enough, eventually they start posting about their kids' fandoms, and eventually their kids' fanworks, and then their kids' first pro novels.

Blorbo from my uterus sounds like something went terribly wrong and 1980s Batman's Penguin was born.
