I block anyone who talks about their children online because I believe that everyone, including children, are entitled to privacy and I judge parents who talk about their kids online.

Reading through the comments, I didn't realize people were doing this on Tumblr (just strange to me. Not the place I would post about my kids, even less so if I had originally posted fandom stuff. A few throwaway comments about the person's nameless kids wouldn't bother me every so often, but full on FB/insta level posts would be so so weird and I'm personally not a fan of putting of your kid on social media.)

It's making me grateful for the friends who have decided to do the mommy blogging thing to make it a whole separate account that I don't have to follow (but I still get occasional family pics on their regular feeds on insta).

My view is that fandom spaces are primarily for fandom topics, and family stuff is for, IDK, your facebook or insta or whatever, because that's how I use tumblr or DW.

I don't mind an occasional mention of life stuff, but I honestly don't follow people in fandom spaces for a ton of kid posts or a barrage of posts about how you need donations because of your money problems after you bragged about going to five cons last year. Things are tough all over, bud.

But I also unfollow people who start posting about Cdrama or whatever thing I don't care about in fandom, too, so I guess I'm just singleminded.

I don't hate children, but I had to completely purge my Instagram follows this year because over the pandemic a number of fandom creators I followed had children, then turned their space about it. If you spent like six years posting about enamel pins or fanart prints only to turn your fandom space into a weird overly personal gallery of your family life... then I gotta move on, lol. I get that going to conventions were postponed and that there were a number of factory delays, just feels weird to see them desperately fill the empty space with stuff about how their kid pooped on their own or whatever.

Bonus points if they're the type to complain about losing followers too.

I stay away from social media for various reasons... one of them being I really don't want to read all about people's kids, with very few exceptions. Thinking of Facebook in particular here. But I do subscribe to plenty of youtube channels for hobby/fandom purposes, and I wish people would keep their real lives separate on there. Like, sure, maybe an occasional mention, but if every vid becomes about your family, I will unfollow. Now, if they post something apart from the usual content and label it such that I know I can just skip it, that's fine. Politics, too -- just keep those thoughts to yourself or do a separate vid!

Anyway. Obviously people are free to post about whatever they want, and no one has to cater to anyone else's preferences... I would never tell anyone what to do on their channel or social media account. I feel like a lot of followers DO like it when things get more personal, which only encourages them to do it more :(

I'm not into true crime, but now I hope you find where this stock footage is coming from and use it to make your own American Vandal-esque parody videos. Just make it look as much like a professional true crime video as possible, but investigate the weirdest, most outlandish "cases."
