(Anonymous) 2022-05-19 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)The original question was "In what specific ways does it not feel like Star Trek?" Assuming that the question can only be a stalking horse meant to allow someone to browbeat you and bully you into silence is assuming that everyone is out to get you.
If you just want to say "Subjectively, I dislike it," that's fine! I mean, I would still be interested in hearing about the subjective reasons you dislike it. But that's also a different statement from "I subjectively do not think it feels like Star Trek" - the definition of "Star Trek" is subjective and open to interpretation, but it's also based on very specific and tangible. If you want to say "I don't think it feels like Star Trek" I think it's legitimate to ask what Star Trek means to you. And it's not like Discovery in any way unique in terms of some people thinking that it doesn't feel like Star Trek.
