Here's a text exchange between Johnny Depp and Paul Bettany from the UK trial:

‘JD: Let’s burn Amber!!!
PB: Having thought it through I don’t think we should burn Amber – she’s
delightful company and easy on the eye, plus I’m not sure she’s a witch. We
could of course try the English course of action in these predicaments – we
do a drowning test. Thoughts?
JD: Let’s drown her before we burn her!!! I will fuck her burnt corpse
afterwards to make sure she’s dead.
PB: My thoughts entirely! Let’s be CERTAIN before we pronounce her a
witch.’

Also from the same trial, evidence he smashed up a trailer out of jealousy over AH getting attention from someone else.

Frankly, meadowphoenix's comment is the only one in this whole thread that makes sense. Depp was abusive before Heard and it looks like her own behavior likely developed in response to it.

SA Deeply disappointed in PB's part in this, I always rather liked him.

(Anonymous) 2022-05-19 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I mean, both sides fundamentally seem to make the same argument: "There is evidence of A being shitty and abusive; therefore, B was not shitty and abusive."

(Anonymous) 2022-05-19 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
You’re not wrong, both sides do use that same argument.

(Anonymous) 2022-05-19 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
“For example, the text about burning Ms Heard is directly from Monty Python and the sketch about burning witches and then drowning the witches.

“This is a film we’d all watch when we were 10 - it’s just irreverent and abstract humour.”

?? What are you trying to say? Just because it’s a quote from a movie doesn’t mean it’s not still fucked up.

(Anonymous) 2022-05-19 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Why is it fucked up if it's a quote and a joke? Do tell.

(Anonymous) 2022-05-19 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Applying it to a real human, and saying you’ll fuck her corpse to make sure she’s dead. That last part isn’t in the movie, and you know it. You’re being purposely obtuse about why anyone would rightfully find this text exchange disturbing. There’s plenty of movies that have lines about murder and violence, but when you quote them, and go off script, to apply them to a real person, even if you claim you’re joking, that can still be considered a threat. Or at least a joke in extremely poor taste that you deserve to be called out for. This isn’t a difficult concept. But since you’re acting completely in bad faith, you get the concept and are pretending you don’t.

'acting completely in bad faith' is a legalese speak. I can see we won't agree on what's appropriate texting.

(Anonymous) 2022-05-19 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
It’s also broken out of just legalese and entered the common vernacular. But you’re right that we probably won’t agree on this, but we can agree to disagree. Just ignore that I even said anything, and thanks for being calm and nice about it.

Nayrt

“You said you were going to murder him, and eat his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti”?

“Oh, come on! Haven’t you ever seen Silence of the Lambs! It was a joke”

You’re full of shit to act like you don’t know why people think this is horrific.

(Anonymous) 2022-05-19 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Ok, I'm a reprehensible human being. Thank you for pointing it out. Depp is the worst and deserves the abuse. How dare he quote Monty? Amber suffered so much wth him and was clearly provoked. This text changes everything!

(Anonymous) 2022-05-19 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
That’s the thing, it won’t change everything. And that’s not what I’m saying.

I’m also not saying you’re a ~reprehensible human being~. Just an asshole pretending not to know why people think this is a horrific text.

He can be the victim and still be fucked up for making this text.

Why is it that if he’s innocent of domestic abuse and is actually the victim of it that automatically means he’s a completely innocent baby who’s never done a bad thing in his life?

When he already has such a strong case in the court and court of public opinion, will him being in the wrong for joking about murdering his wife and fucking her burnt corpse change anything?

Will Tasya possibly saying Amber didn’t really hit her and that it was a lie that she did really absolve Amber of what she’s done to Johnny?

People should strive to fight for truth and justice. And if something is either untrue, debatable, or was a bad thing to do, they shouldn’t lie or jump to conclusions about it. It doesn’t help their case. Especially if they’re winning anyways.

It’s like when people jump on every negative unsourced rumor about people who are already persona non grata when doing so isn’t great. That goes against being the bigger person. Or immediately jump to the defense of someone who is a genuinely good person when it comes to light that maybe they made a misstep once, even if they don’t know yet if this otherwise good person did what they were accused of or not.

It shouldn’t change whether a person is guilty or innocent if they’re wrong about this one thing.

Gray is hard while b&w is easy.
By the way Depp also said that he suplied Bettany with drugs including cocaine.

The fucking her corpse thing takes it way beyond a Python joke and you know it.
