Talk about things with tiny/no fandoms

Brought to you by #1 and by my own attempts today to find proof that I’m not the only person who’s read that one story with the bus station and the cannibalism.

I'd love to, but I'm literally the only person posting any fanworks in mine, and I don't want to out myself.

One of my smallest fandoms has like 70 fics. They are all written by one person.

This sounds a bit aggressive for some reason. Wanted to say some fans of smaller media are just so wild, kudos

Also depends on how long it's been around?

I mean I'm responsible for 50+ of the under 150 fics in my main fandom, but I've been writing in it for 20 years. And I know at least one other fairly small fandom I was tangentially involved in where I know one person's been there for at least 20 years too - not sure how many stories they've racked up in that time but they're kind of everywhere.

same - there are literally 5 fics in my obscure pairing; 4 are mine and the fifth was inspired by one of mine and says so. a good bean, that young author who got inspired. I hope they write more someday.

I’m one of two in mine. The other author puts out a lot more content that scratches shippy itches and mine is more story centric. They’re also the better writer but neither of us are pros and we each bring something very different to the fandom that readers seem to appreciate. All seven of the readers.

Not really a "tiny" fandom but there is a popular ongoing BL manga called Koimonogatari which I adore, but "popular" in terms of "ongoing BL manga" means there are maybe 20 of us constantly reloading the scanlators' pages to see if the latest chapter has been released already. Maybe there is a Discord, no idea I just want to cry on someone's shoulder about the fact that I have been waiting for chapter 24 for an entire year.

commisserates in Black Knight/Crimson Spell

BL has that issue of almost everything being canceled at the drop of a hat so it doesn't matter how invested the fandom is, you will almost always be screwed by a fickle magazine editor somewhere in Tokyo. even when they come out years later and officially translate something...they canceled it, the story is unfinished, what the fuck is the point of releasing six volumes where the story ends abruptly?

Oh my ....... is Crimson Spell still ongoing? Now I feel bad, anon. In a "so I don't know pain" way. Black Knight... I had to check and it is marked as completed at 5 volumes on my MAL, no idea if it's been dropped or what but seems to be something like that which hurts even more (looking at you Yorubenaki Mono, which managed to become my favorite Kou Yoneda manga in 3 chapters never to be seen anymore...).

It's true, and if you are extremely lucky they will go through the trouble of drawing some rushed barely-in-character smutty final chapter and that's it. (Incidentally, I am also looking at the Ai no Kusabi remake OVAs. It's not even just a manga issue. sigh --)

The Wanderers (1979). It's a movie by Phil Kaufman, about youth gangs. There was a big buff dude and a shorter scrawny dude and they had chemistry and plot. I don't remember names of the characters or anything, but I remember thinking WHOA.

Worse is, I saw the director's cut and have no idea if the shippy bits were in the original release. There is one shippy gifset on tumblr posted almost ten years ago with less than 100 notes, no AO3 entry, nothing. People don't even know about this movie. But I know, I know what I saw.

I saw that movie on TV a really long time ago and liked it

I am literally the only person posting for the majority of my fandoms. Sometimes it makes me wonder if I should bail on fandom altogether and switch over to original fiction at this point, what with already lacking any semblance of an audience, but I do it out of love for that which I love.

One of my fandoms has 37 fics.
Of those fics, 14 are tagged for my ship, and of those fics, 9 were written by me and three were written for me.

I wrote 25 out of the 37 overall-- well, 24 fics one meta.

The Owlbear Pathfinder games. It's not that there's no fandom, it's that it's a gaming fandom with barely any fic and also every monarch/commander is an OC. So it's hard to finding shipping fic of a character I created already written and up on Ao3.
