A lot of the, uh, casting criticism I encountered back the show first dropped was stunningly racist. I can't even reproduce those comments here, they're so gross. Now, I of course don't think for a second that those people are representative of the entire fandom, but when you don't know much about a fandom and this particular sect is just so loud and in your face, it sticks with you.

That's specifically casting criticism. Not all criticism for the show is casting criticism.

And I agree that it was, at least on reddit. But it's been literally years since the series came out and to pretend like no one had watched and criticized it by its actual content by now is obtuse.
