The amount of social awareness kids have at any given age is a direct result of what they were taught by the adults in their lives. If they weren't taught what is and isn't appropriate behavior, they'll do things that aren't considered acceptable because they haven't been taught any better.

Maybe if they’re homeschooled, kept away from other children, and not allowed to read or watch media featuring people. Otherwise, they’ve usually picked up a decent idea of how child society works by the time they’re in middle school.
