Well, worst case scenario even if OP ends up being a troll you ended up helping someone else, so thanks!

Judging from the story alone I agree that Jane doesn't sound like a good friend and I wouldn't be surprised if she was being manipulative unlike other commenters. Unsurprised that OP is scared that Jane might end up being a hill for the relationship to die on, because I probably would be too. Thank you for saying all of this, it made me feel like less... of a freak. Not a lot that I can suggest, just hoping for the best for OP too.
