I don't think you understand what the word canon means. Het != canon.

Maybe look it up sometime, because only two thirds of those are actually canon, the rest are just as out there as the slash ships are.

Maybe they meant "canon" as in, there being at least something to work with, instead of having to pull the romantic angle out of your ass?

I fail to see how Mileina/Tieria and Setsuna/Marina qualify for either definition of canon, and (one-sided!)Tieria/Lockon would need to be there regardless of which one you're going for, but let me be generous here.

Because it's interesting and fun to explore the possible dynamics of a relationship, be it a friendship or a more romantic relationship between two (or more) people regardless of their sex? Plus it's not like people have to choose either canon or crack to ship - I personally liked a lot of the canon relationships (including Lyle and Anew, though I seem to be alone on that), but at the same time I found what could have happened with Tieria and Lockon interesting.

tl;dr, it's not necessary, and is often boring to limit oneself within fandom.

lolwut? Tieria and Mileina barely even communicated, Lockon/Feldt exists only in the minds of shippers, Setsuna is all but asexual, and Billy/Sumeragi is one-sided at best. I sense a butthurt fangirl who's pissed that there's so much more canon to back up a pairing like Lockon/Tieria than there is for almost any het that isn't Alle/Soma, Lyle/Anew, or Saji/Louise. Protip: GUNDAM ISN'T EVEN ABOUT THE PAIRINGS. Most pairings aren't going to be canon anyway. Fandom exists for a reason. And besides, canon doesn't need to necessarily mean het, honey. Look at all the moments Lockon and Tieria had, and then tell me honestly that fandom wouldn't 100% believe that it's a canon pairing if Tieria was a girl. It's only the kneejerk fanbrat reaction to OMG EW YAOI that prevents it from being considered canon as opposed to a fan creation.

(also, if you have to use fanart to prove your argument that something is canon, you just lost your argument. :D)

Yeah, sure, het is fun. But just because it isn't canon doesn't mean it isn't fun.

I personally could never ship Neil and Feldt because I saw it more as a little sister/girl with a crush relationship.

And WHEN was the mindfuckery that is Mileina/Tieria EVER hinted at?

And Marina/Setsuna ended up feeling more big sister/little brother by the end.

...Neil/Tieria felt more canon to me. But it isn't. Few of those relationships are. That doesn't mean I ship them any less. Canon does not validate a personal pairing choice.

LOL, Tieria/Mileina is cute... but it's NOT canon. Lockon/Feldt was only *one-sided canon* (BIG difference). And Setsuna/Marina is more platonic than romantic, at least IMHO.

DOUBLE LOL at using fanarts. and TRIPLE LOL at equalling het with canon.

Pssst, Holly/Sergei anyone? And Andrei/Louise *was* onesided canon too. :P
