So frustrated by Fringe fans' attitude to Anna Torv's acting. The consensus is that she was "wooden" and "flat" in the early episodes.

But I think she absolutely nailed the character of Olivia: a buttoned-up govt agent with childhood trauma.

Secretly, I suspect that many of the complaints about her early acting are because of an expectation that female characters are emotionally open and expressive.

People only seemed to appreciate the acting once Olivia started to relax and open up. Then fans *really* praised Torv when she played the sassier and more playful AU version of the character.
